Betty Stara, 69, of Rising City, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Butler County Healthcare
Center in David City.

Betty was born July 2, 1942, in Rescue, Nebraska to Anton and Barbara(Roubal) Brecka.  She
attended District #73 in Prague and graduated from David City High School in 1959.  On August
25, 1962, she married Kenneth Stara at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Abie.  They lived in
the David City area.
Betty was a homemaker, loved gardening, cooking, baking kolaches and collected bells.  She was an
avid football fan, loved to attend all sporting events and any functions her grandchildren were
involved with and enjoyed fireworks and the Fourth of July.  She was a member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses, a CCD teacher, member of the Altar Society and assisted at
Region V with her daughter Brenda.  They were very active with the David City Wrestling Program
and were honored by the N.S.W.C.A as family of the year.
Betty is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Rising City, three sons;Keith(Jill) Stara, Rising City,
Brian(Chris) Stara, Elkhorn and Scott(Cheryl) Stara of Lincoln, two daughters;Brenda Stara, Rising
City and Diana(John) Worm of David City, eleven grandchildren;Brody and Ariah Stara, Travis,
Derek,and Ryan Worm,Calvin, Alex, Erin, and Sean Stara, Doug Strode and Julie Harmon. Also
surviving are three great-grandchildren, two brothers;Eugene(Sharon) Brecka of David City and
Anton(Elaine) Brecka of Dwight and two sisters; Maggie Hlavac  and Joan(Valerian) Svoboda of
David City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Alvern Hlavac.
