Joe Krepel, 88, of Schuyler, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Joe was born April 10, 1937, in Schuyler, to Joseph and Wilma (Cinful) Krepel. When he was three the family moved to North Bend where Joe attended school through the 10th grade. He then went to work for farmers, cleaned the pool hall and moved to Schuyler where he worked for ADM. Joe then worked for Wagner Mills for 12 years and the packing house in Schuyler for 33 years. On March 31, 1973 he married Margaret Ward at the courthouse in Seward. They lived in Schuyler and Joe loved playing pool, horseshoes, a visit to the casino and rides around town everyday. He was a member of the Schuyler Eagle's Club.
He is survived by his wife Margie of Schuyler, children Joe (Tracy) Krepel of Columbus, Wayne Krepel of Colorado, Daryll (Kim) Krepel of Missouri, Denise (Bryan) Coombs of Cape Cod, Julie (David Graves) of Colorado, Jim (Pam) Poe of Georgia, a brother Vern (Kathy) Krepel of North Bend, 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four children: Brenda Krepel, Alan Krepel, Bonnie Poe and Steven Poe and his wife, Bonnie Fayee, three brothers, Irish Krepel, Don Krepel and Dwayne Krepel.
It was Joe's desire to be cremated and the family is planning a Memorial Service in July.
