Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Jerome Didier, 71, of Schuyler, NE, passed away on June 16, 2025, after a nine-month battle with cancer at the Schuyler Hospital.

Jeff was the son of Jerome and Merna Didier, born in Tacoma, WA, on April 9, 1954. Shortly after, the family moved to Bellwood, NE, to plant roots and create a legacy of a family grocery store. Jeff attended Bellwood Elementary, where he was proud to be a Bellwood Bronco. During high school, Jeff was a star athlete, who enjoyed playing football, baseball, and track. He was never ashamed to brag to his grandkids about how fast he was or his home run and football records. He graduated from Aquinas Catholic High School in 1972, where he met the love of his life, Mary McCawley. He continued his education at Platte College and the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he studied Marketing.

Jeff and Mary were married on April 16, 1977. They began their life together in Omaha and Kansas City, where Jeff worked as a salesman for Armour-Dial. In 1981, following the passing of his father, they moved to Schuyler to continue the family business and raise their three children. Jeff devoted himself to the grocery store for 35 years. He greeted everyone with a friendly smile and if you were lucky (or unlucky depending on how much time you had), a dirty joke or funny story you would never forget. Jeff had friends everywhere he went. He served on several boards and committees in the community including the Knights of Columbus, Schuyler Fire Department, Ducks Unlimited, and Schuyler Community Hospital Foundation. After retirement, he enjoyed going to concerts with family and friends. He could tell you the history of the band, names of all the members, and words for every song.  He had a love for hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching old westerns, and driving around the countryside “checking on things”. He attended all the grandkids' sporting events that he could. He always had some great advice for them (and their teammates) from the bleachers. Jeff had a passion for all Husker sports, the KC Royals, and the KC Chiefs.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Mary (McCawley) Didier; his children and their families: Kristin Nelson of Newman Grove, NE, wife of the late Scott Nelson, and their children Cody (Carolyn), Griffin, Everett, Bennett, and Emmarie; and first great-grandchild expected in November; son, Clint (Amy) Didier of Bellwood, NE and their children Hunter, Hadley, and Harper; son, Clay (Adrianne) Didier of Madison, NE and their children Luke and Leah; He is also survived by his brother Tony Didier of David City, NE; brothers- and sisters in-law: Mike (Mary) McCawley of Omaha, NE, Tom (Pam) McCawley of Papillion, NE, Steve (Cindy) McCawley of The Colony, TX, Dan (Cathy) McCawley of Rising City, NE, Lynn (Pat) Brannen of Omaha, NE, Lori (Bob) Santella of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Laura) McCawley of Ralston, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Merna Didier; Stepfather, Herb Detlefsen; Mother-and father-in-law, Tom and Delores McCawley; Sisters, Luann and Cindy; and Son-in-law, Scott Nelson.
