William Henry Kroeger was born to George and Louise (Olson) Kroeger on October 1, 1933, in Schuyler, Nebraska. He was the fourth of six children. He grew up in Schuyler, attended Schuyler schools, and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1952. After graduation he spent the next two years aboard ship in the US Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he spent the next two years attending auto body repair school in Milford. Upon graduation he returned to Schuyler where he joined his father and brothers in the auto repair business doing the body work. At about that time he and his brothers became involved in building and driving stock cars at area tracks.

He married Marian Foust in Schuyler in 1957, and they were parents of five children—Keith, Michelle, Bruce, Nicole, and Elizabeth. They later divorced. When his son Keith graduated from auto body school in Milford, they started their own auto body repair business in Schuyler.

On July 11, 1985, he married Viola Sisel Snyder in Schuyler and welcomed Christopher and Alison Snyder into his family. Bill and Vi enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren grow up and attending their many activities. They loved traveling and enjoyed antique stores and auctions.

On their trips they were able to experience many interesting and beautiful areas of our country. They also enjoyed developing their various collections while on these trips.

In their retirement years they spent much time outdoors planting trees and flowers and watching the birds and wildlife around their home and lake.

Bill was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. For many years he enjoyed his membership in Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife Vi, his children Keith Kroeger, Michelle Kroeger, Bruce Kroeger, Nicole (Dan) Behannon, and Elizabeth Schalaben and step children Chris Snyder and Alison Kracl; grandchildren—Collin Kroeger, Geoffrey Kroeger, Marina (Colin) Thompson, Tyler Winters, Joselyn Snyder (fiancé Jacob Zanger), Natalie Snyder, Delaney Snyder, Dayton Snyder, and Jordan Kracl; great-grandchildren Tyler Akers and Oliver Spencer. He is also survived by sister-in-law Mary Ann Kroeger and brothers-and sisters-in-law Darrell and Judie Foust and Keith and Vikki Mihulka as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Georgean Prunty and brothers and sister-in-laws Richard Kroeger, Jack (Lollie) Kroeger, Paul Kroeger and James (Butch) Kroeger, and grandson Cameron Snyder.

Bill’s family express their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Brookestone in David City for the wonderful care that he received while a resident there. They were a blessing to all of us.
