Lucile (Spence) Shelton, 93, of Richland, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Crown Point Assisted Living in Omaha.

Lucile was born February 24, 1933, in North Bend, Nebraska to Frank and Lucile (Kovar) Greaser.  She attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1950.  Her first job was at Otradovsky Grocery in Schuyler.  On September 21, 1950, she married Jess "Bud" Spence, Jr. at the Methodist Church in Schuyler.  They lived in Schuyler and Texas over the years and retired to Richland.  Bud died in 1996.  On September 12, 1999, Lucile married Gene Shelton in Omaha.  They lived in Texas and eventually moved to Richland.  He died in 2019.

Lucile had worked as Administrative Secretary to the Colfax County District Superintendent, Wayne Elementary School and Iowa Western Community College.  She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.  Lucile loved gardening, her flowers, painting and crocheting.

Surviving are her daughter, Janet (Larry) Heikes of Omaha, brother Frank Greaser of Richland, grandchildren; Renee (Nate) Flegel, Cale (Melissa) Heikes, TeriAnn Spence, great-grandchildren; Braxton, Ashton and Zach Flegel, step-children Gail (Steve) Lewis, Tom (Jo) Shelton, Tim Shelton and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son Bret Allen Spence and sisters-in-law Lois Greaser and Patricia Long.
