Don Waak, 85, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.

Donald Arthur Waak was born February 2, 1941, in Columbus to Arthur and Genelle (Huhn) Waak. He attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler High School. He enlisted and was a Navy Seabee from 1960-1962. In 1963 he married Janet Cassel and they had three children, Ken, Luann and Eric. They later divorced.
In September of 1983, Don and Betty (Sladek) O'Leary were married, adding two daughters to the family, Shaunda and Erin. Over the years Don worked for Hulsey Construction and Schuyler Electric, as well as farming. He lived on the farm place until the time of his death.
Don is survived by two sons; Ken (Margaret) Waak and Eric Waak, all of Columbus, two daughters; Shaunda (Ivan) Volkmer and Erin (Larry) Rose, of Schuyler, brother Dennis Waak of Lincoln, two sisters; Genean Jorgenson of California and Mary (Glen) Cudly of Texas, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his precious companion, Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Genelle, wife Betty, daughter Luann Waak, brother Robert Waak, grandson David Waak, sister-in-law Karen Waak and brother-in-law Neil Jorgenson.
