Merle L. Struebing, 90, of Stromsburg, formerly of Ulysses, died Friday, June 12, 2026 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola.

Wednesday, June 17, 2026 10:00 a.m. Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rising City, Nebraska. Rev. Justin Wilkens
Visitation Tuesday, June 16, 2026 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Kracl Funeral Chapel David City. Additional visitation one hour before the service at the church.

Merle L. Struebing was born October 28, 1935 at Millerton, Nebraska to Fredrick "Fritz" and Gladys (Schreckengost) Struebing. He attended country schools in Butler County and graduated from David City High School in 1954. Merle served for 2 years in the Army National Guard. On August 30, 1959, Merle was united in marriage to Leota Ostermeier at Zion Lutheran church. They lived in Garrison for some time, and later moved to a farm. Over the years Merle had worked at Henningsen Foods, M&S transfer and also at the elevator in Ulysses. Later he farmed and was Wick Building dealer and also put up grain bins for many years. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran church where he served as an Elder and later joined Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rising City. The last 4 years Merle has resided at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg, where he received excellent care.
He is survived by his Children Darin (Carol) Struebing, Kendra (Tony) Novak, Grandchildren Taylor (Tori) Novak, Shayla (Fiance Casey Fleck) Novak, Jessica Sample, Jason (Jane) Sample, Kelli (Tony Aerni) Meyer, Great grandchildren, Alexis and Emmy Kleckner, Tori Price, Derick Sample, Diondrae Aerni, Dai'shaleis Aerni, Aamori Aerni, Ja'Nylah Aerni and Vaida Hill. He is also survived by his brother Don Struebing and sister Shirley Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Leota, sister Margaret (Gus, Sr.) Hitz, Sisters in law Janice Struebing and Jackie Struebing, brother in law Harry Mills.
