Eric Francis Nicolas, age 54, of West Melbourne, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 11, 1971, in Schuyler, Nebraska to Janell Croghan and Vernon Nicolas. Eric was a graduate of Schuyler Central High School in 1990. He received his Bachelor Degree of Arts and General Studies at Brevard Community College, Melbourne, Florida in 2006. Eric also received his Bachelor of Science Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010.Eric was a caring licensed CNA as well as working at the King Center For Performing Arts in Melbourne.
Eric loved Halloween and going to Universal Studios to their popular Halloween Horror Nights. Eric loved to travel with Steve and they also enjoyed hiking on the local trails. Madonna was one of Eric’s favorite artists and he attended several of her concerts in Miami. Eric deeply loved his beloved cat, Pugzy, who was a cherished companion and an important part of his life. Pugzy has since passed away, and we find comfort imagining the two of them together again.
Eric is survived by his mother, Janell (Michael) Croghan , brother Joshua Nicolas, and father Vernon Nicolas. Close friend Steve Janicki. Aunts Janet Kracl, Joan (Micheal) Payzant, Jo A. (James) Witter, Julie (Steve) Reiter, uncle Jerry (Judy) Zelenda and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his dear friend Conrad Czerniesewski, infant brother Ryan Nicolas and step father Donald Hulsey. Grandparents, Jerome Zelenda, Thelma Zelenda and Esther Zelenda and Leonard Nicolas and Bernice Nicolas. Aunts Joyce Schreiber and Betty Nicolas, uncles Bill Schreiber and Allan Kracl.
