Norman Piller, 92, of Bellwood passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Columbus Community Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date
Norman E. Piller was born on November 9, 1932 in David City to Victor and Edna (Witkowski) Piller. He grew up in David City and graduated from David City Public Schools. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Louisiana. After he was honorably discharged he worked as a mail carrier. On May 24, 1958, he was united in marriage to Margaret (Murphy) at the Methodist Parsonage in David City. They lived in David City for some time, then later bought a farm east of Bellwood in 1967.
Norm loved all things outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, blue rock and trap shooting. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion in Bellwood.
He is survived by his son, Calvin Piller of Columbus, Marlys (Mark) Hagood of Weatherford, Texas, brother, Bruce, sister, Joann Vik, grandchildren: Jason Piller, Angie Cauthon, Brandi Neesen, Brian Lynch, and Katie Stimson, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Robert Piller.
