Penny Janousek, 61, of Clarkson, died Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Columbus Community Hospital.


 

It was Penny's desire that memorials be given for family designation, in lieu of flowers, plants and statues

Penny was born August 9, 1963, in Columbus to Jerry and Lucille (Matthies) Mundil.  She attended Leigh Schools and graduated from Leigh High School.  She then attended Northeast Technical School.  On August 28, 1982, she married Dean J. Janousek at New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson.  They lived and farmed south of Clarkson and Penny assisted Dean with the work as they raised their two sons.  They raised drug free cattle and hogs for Niman Ranch and local customers for 25 years.  Penny also worked as business manager for the Leigh Schools (8 years), Schuyler Schools (8 years) and recently was employed at the Wayne School District as their business manager.  She served on the Colfax County Fair Board for 25 years, started the All-Star 4H Club and was a member of New Zion Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and served on the Session.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Penny is survived by her husband, Dean of Clarkson, two sons; Grant (Becky) Janousek of Grundy Center, Iowa, Reed (Kiley) Janousek of North Bend, a sister, Patty (Dale) Shotkoski of Fremont, brother Paul (Eileen) Mundil of Breese, Illinois, six grandchildren; Alleigh, Sawyer and Porter Janousek and Eden, Emry and Elliot Janousek, uncle Bert Perina and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
