Larry H. Heins, 82, of David City, died Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his home.

Larry was born October 9, 1941, in David City to Harold and Ruby (From) Heins.  He was baptized at home on  November 2, 1941.  As a toddler he and his mother lived with her parents while Harold was serving in Europe during WWII.  He attended school in Garrison through the eight grade and David City High School, graduating in 1959.  He participated in football and basketball.  Following high school he attended UNL for two years and returned to the farm when his father was injured.  He played slow pitch softball and town team basketball for Garrison.  In 1963 ,he enlisted in the Air Guard serving until November of 1969.  Along with farming the Heins family built the laying houses in 1971 and he did that until he retired.  In March of 1996, he married Jeanette and opened his heart to Ranae and Greg, later adding Megan and grandkids Jay, Lynn, Reese and Grant.  Larry enjoyed all the activities of the grandkids and was a loyal fan of Yutan and East Butler.  His favorite pastime was going to coffee at the Garrison elevator and watching on line cattle auctions along with Fox news.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jeanette Beethe Kozisek Heins, Ranae Kozisek Smith, Greg and Megan (Lavicky) Kozisek, grandchildren Jay and Lynn Smith and Reese and Grant Kozisek, sister Beverly (Richard) Bennett, brother Dean (Connie) Heins, brother-in-law Albert Richert and nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ruby and a sister, Pat Richert.
