Candace was born February 25, 1954, in Schuyler, to Donald and Darlene (Speckman) Johnk. She attended Schuyler Schools and graduated from Schuyler High School in1972. She then attended and graduated from Midland College in Fremont. After teaching for a few years, Candace then worked at Beneficial, Bank of the West and Nebraska Energy Federal Credit Union. She retired and later went back to teaching as an aide at Columbus Middle School. After her cancer diagnosis in May, she again retired to focus on her health.
Growing up, Candace loved and showed horses with her good friend Christy. They spent many a day riding horses, falling off and getting right back on. She loved cats and took many in, becoming the best "cat mom" ever. Candace will be missed by her friends and "fur babies." She is survived by cousins and friends and was preceded in death by her parents.
