Allen "Ernie" Ernst was born January 30, 1949, in Columbus to Melvin and Marcella (Huhn) Ernst. He attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1967. Ernie lived in the same house his entire life. On April 17, 1971, he married Katherine "Kak" Heavican at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. They farmed until 2006. Ernie also owned Ernie's Trucking and fed cattle with the help of his "grandbaby" dog, Ginger. The rare times he wasn't working, he enjoyed airboating, spending time with his family, watching old westerns on TV and playing with dogs Annie and Abby. Ernie also did alot of deer hunting with his friends. In the early 70's he was in the "pit crew" for Butch Jedlicks'a Stock Car Team. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. It must be noted, Ernie loved ice cream cones.
Ernie is survived by his wife Kak, son Marty and his wife April Ernst, all of Schuyler, son Patrick Ernst of Rockwell City, Iowa, sister Elaine (Jim) Williams of Bellevue, three grandchildren; Chloe, McCoy and Ada Ernst, special friends Mike, Misty, Grace and Jack Davidshofer, Brian and Nikki Herout and family and several nieces and nephews.
