Jerry Mundil, 74, of Schuyler, died Saturday, January 11, 2025, at CHI Schuyler Hospital.


In lieu of flowers, plants, and statues: Memorials may be directed to Colfax County Senior Center or Colfax County Veterans Memorial.

The family requests Husker red or Schuyler green attire.

The funeral service will be live streamed on Kracl Funeral Chapel Facebook page.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 16, 2025  11:00 A.M.

Visitation Wednesday 4-7 at Kracl Funeral Chapel, Schuyler

Visitation will resume Thursday 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Church

Lunch immediately following at the church hall

Burial will be Friday, January 17, 2025, 10 A.M. at the Omaha National Cemetery

Jerry Mundil was born September 21, 1950 in Columbus to John and Mildred (Hoffman) Mundil. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1969.

Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Constellation.  Following his discharge he worked construction for many years.  On November 16, 1996, he married Rose Renner at the Oak Ballroom and they continued to live in Schuyler.  They operated a furniture store, had rental properties and opened two thrift stores, M&R Thrift,  which they still operate.

Throughout his life, Jerry was involved in several organizations including the Eagles Club, American Legion,  VFW of Schuyler, DAV, Board of Directors of the Colfax County Senior Center in Schuyler, Colfax County Veterans Memorial Committee member, A Huskerland Wrestling founding Father, Coach of Schuyler little kids wrestling for 29yrs and Nebraska Cornhusker State Games, Wrestling. Weigh- ins and Bracketing for the University of Nebraska Lincoln- Cliff Keen Tournaments. Jerry was  also a contributor to Patriotic Productions of Nebraska and  played softball on the following teams: Still Husker Bar, Tiny Bubbles, and Over 35 team. "Munj" will be missed by many family, friends, and community members.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mundil of Schuyler, NE, son, Dan(Shelley) Renner of Columbus, daughter, Michelle DeArcos(George Crespo) of Columbus, brother, Joe Mundil of Indiana, sister, Judy (Gailen) Shultz of Schuyler, brother, Richard Mundil of Howells, brother, Ronnie(Rita) Mundil of Schuyler, grandchildren: Elena, Jenna, Rylee, Hannah, Benita(DJ), Mariluz(Oscar), Juan, and Rocio, great grandchildren: Mia, Elianeth, Aleyda, Agustin, Alex, Richie, Ximena, and Sergio, cousin, Charlotte Looney, several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred,  sister-in-law Pam Mundil, and in-laws Joe and Jeanette King.
