Elaine Mae Beringer was born May 23, 1950, in Columbus, Nebraska to Rudolph and Julia (Dohse) Kucera.  She attended Howells schools and the family moved to Schuyler where she graduated from Schuyler High School in 1968.  On September 13, 1969, she married LaVern H. "Butch" Beringer at Presentation Catholic Church.  They lived in Octavia  and over the years cared for 120 foster children.  Elaine served on the Octavia School Board for many years, was janitor for the school, worked at Johnnies Steak House, Schuyler Hospital and as the activities director at the Schuyler Nursing Home.  She also was a 4H Leader, taught CCD and cleaned houses in the area.  In her "spare time" she loved gardening and caring for her flowers, reading and following Butch in stock car racing, watching Brian participate in demolition derbies and figure eight racing.  She especially loved time spent with family and the grandkids.  After retiring she helped Kris with her day care in Schuyler.

Surviving are her husband LaVern of Octavia, daughter Kristi (Jeff) Inslelman, Schuyler, son Brian Beringer and Mandy Wright of Columbus, two adopted sons, Troy Beringer of Oregon and Preston Beringer of Octavia, grandchildren Jaiden Inselman and Luis Curiel of Norfolk, Reese Inselman, Schuyler, Brittni (Jason) Prososki and Drew Inselman of Columbus and Brooke (Trey) Rainey of Milford.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren Jarrett and Jamison Prososki, Maliyah Curiel, Cayden Inselman, Alvien Inselman, and a sister-in-law, Charlene Kucera of Dodge.  Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, still born son Jared Beringer and a brother, Marvin Kucera.
