Linda Jakub, 74, of Octavia, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the Butler County Healthcare Center in David City.

Linda was born February 15, 1949, in Columbus to Roman and Audrea (Hammond) Dietrich. She attended area schools and graduated from David City High School in 1968. On June 21, 1974, she married Carrol Jakub in David City. They made their home in Octavia where she was a homemaker, ran the Post Office in Octavia for a time, did record keeping at the Butler County Clinic, worked at the Little Village Cake Shop in Appleton with her sister-in-law Judy Jakub, and enjoyed being at the flower shop in David City when Coren owned it. Linda had taught CCD in Schuyler, coached softball and enjoyed spending time with family most of all, especially the grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Carrol of Octavia, two daughters; Nicole (Jesse) Hilger of Lincoln and Coren (Eric) Pflum of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, six grandchildren; Tristan (Hannah) Hilger, Jaren and Tatum Hilger, Audra (Nolan) Hartman, Alexa and Caroline Pflum and four great-grandchildren; Raelyn, Scarlett and Karson Hilger and Delylah Seibert, four sisters; Barb (Thom) Greenwood of Columbus, Shirley (John) Lozos of Columbus, Kathy (John) Ehlers, Bev (Quentin) Heineman and one brother, Donnie (Bernice) Dietrich, all of Octavia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Audrea Dietrich, in-laws Edward and Leola Jakub, one brother, Roman Dietrich and a niece, Michelle Ehlers.
