Nancy was born April 26, 1956, in Schuyler, Nebraska, to Donald and Stephanie Jedlicka. She was the oldest of four girls: Nancy, Linda, Gail, and Amy. Nancy and Linda were just two years apart. Their little sister Gail passed away at only four years old, and eight years later came their youngest sister, Amy.
Nancy grew up surrounded by a large extended family, including her Kasik grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly. She also spent a great deal of time with Grandma Agnes and Grandpa Frank. Some of our memories are of sitting together watching television with Grandpa while Grandma was often in the kitchen cooking. With our Czechoslovak heritage, kolaches were always a family favorite.
Throughout her life, Nancy received care and support through Columbus Region IV, Lincoln Region V (now Apace), and Mosaic in Papillion. She touched the lives of many people along the way. Nancy loved puppies and was definitely a foodie. She especially enjoyed coffee and chocolate. She loved watching Lassie and The Lawrence Welk Show, and one of her favorite songs was “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree.”
Nancy was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she received her First Communion and Confirmation.
As her sister, I have many memories of helping Nancy walk and get around when we were young. Our lives were not always easy, but Nancy was a part of my life from the very beginning, and the bond between sisters remains.
Special thanks to Debbie Dieter Tesarek, Nancy’s former guardian, for her loving care and support.
Nancy passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, at 6:40 a.m. She was deeply loved by her family, including her sisters Linda and Amy, her late sister Gail, her parents Donald and Stephanie, her grandparents, and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nancy’s life touched many people, and the memories she leaves behind—her love of puppies, her favorite foods, her television shows and music, and the people who cared for and loved her—will remain always.
