Eric Novotny, 46 passed away at his home in Omaha on September 25, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.  Eric was born October 1, 1976 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Carol Ann (Kracl) Sloan and Ron Novotny. He grew up in Schuyler and Garden City, Kansas where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1995. He attended Wayne State college, Central Community College and Northeast Community College where he obtained his RN nursing degree. He also attended lineman school at Metro Community College. Eric was a cardiac nurse at Methodist Physician’s Clinic in Omaha until his health forced him to retire. He had a heart of gold with his patients and loved the physicians he worked with. He was known in his neighborhood as “Mr. Fix It” and took pride in always lending a helping hand. He enjoyed college football and traveling especially to Fairplay, Colorado and Table Rock Lake and was able to take one last trip there in August. He also loved horses and cats and said that when God called him to heaven, he would be a shepherd to horses and cats.

Eric is survived by his mother, Carol Sloan, Omaha; father Ron (Lynda) Novotny, Hemingford, Nebraska; sister Andrea (Nathan) Abels; nephew Kaeden Abels,  niece Kaeley Abels;  all of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa; significant other Denise Bragg and her children Savannah and Tyler, Omaha; aunt Pauline Rorah, Schuyler, aunt and uncle Ken and Jan Morris of Trinity, Florida; uncle Raymond  (Peggy) Novotny, Clarkson along with numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Marvin and Ludi Kracl and Emil and Wilma Novotny and stepfather Alan Sloan
