John Barr of Denver, died September 6, 2020, at his home in Denver.

John A. Barr was born to Lucille (Vasek) and Glen Barr on 22 October 1950. John was diagnosed early in life with cerebral palsy, but he spent his entire life of nearly 70 years rejoicing in life and living it to the fullest. John enjoyed being active and fully engaged in the community. With the aid of provided assistants and community supports he attended plays, movies, ball games, museums, parks, shopping, and especially enjoyed dining out. John was active in promoting of handicap rights; John served as an active Regional Transportation District - Access-A-Ride (RTD-AAR) committee member as a rights advocate and access advisor for Denver public transportation handicap assistance services such as those provided by the commuter rail network and the public bus network. John traveled to many national disability rights conventions across the United States. John had a witty, keen and quick sense of humor without being dismissive or hurtful. His puns accompanied a bright twinkle in his eye.
John was a lifelong member of St John’s Lutheran Church in Denver, CO being baptized and confirmed there. He regularly attended services and enjoyed the fellowship and help of a special “Team Barr” support group. John lived in his own home provided by the diligence of his parents with his home caregiver, Loren Schultz. Loren and John were together for an amazing 29 ½ years.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lucille Barr. He is survived by his caregiver, Loren Schultz, and several cousins in the Vasek and Barr families.
