Charles was born March 30, 1927 in Bellwood, NE to George and Minnie (Smith) Romshek. He graduated from Bellwood High School in 1945. On April 12, 1950 he married Margaret Stevens at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City.
Charles loved spending time with family and he and Margaret had 11 foster children over the years. Everyone remembers the fine example they set, being such a loving couple, always holding hands and enjoying their marriage of 64 years. They were inseparable. Charles and Margaret spent many Saturday nights dancing. They met at a wedding dance.
Charles started farming right out of high school facing many difficult times, but still farmed for just short of 50 years. Charles drove the school bus for David City Public Schools for 35 years. Looking forward to every sporting event and activity. If his children or grandchildren had an activity Charles was there to attend. Always on the go. Even after moving to the assisted living, Charles was anxious to go. If he knew someone was coming for him he sat by the door waiting. His greatest joy was driving around looking at crops and farms.
He is survived by nine children: Pat (Dean) Hilderbrand, David City, Judy (Steve) Remmers, York, Nancy (Vic) Sowl, Henderson, Jane Romshek of Lincoln, Jeff (Marci) Romshek, Bellwood, Bill (Amy) Romshek, Gibson City, Illinois, Marty (Tricia) Romshek, Bellwood, Buffy Romshek, Omaha and Jackie (Robert) Hildebrand, Pickford, Michigan, one sister, Katherine Hampton, Munnford, Oklahoma, 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Romshek, his parents, two brothers George (Dorothy) Romshek and Donald Romshek, one sister Doris (Art) Meier, and two grandchildren Jay and Kiann.
