A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St NW, Mason City, with Pastor Nadine Nkulu officiating. Maxine will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Maxine was born August 31, 1941 on a farm near Schuyler, Nebraska; daughter of Anton and Olga (Masny) Krula. She graduated from Schuyler High School with the class of 1958. After high school, she worked for Mutual of Omaha. It was just by chance that she met the love of her life, John Green in Omaha, Nebraska. They were married June 17, 1962 and had 64 wonderful years together. In 1965, the pair moved to Mason City where Maxine attended NIACC and earned her associates degree. For 21 years she worked as an office manager, bookkeeper, and computer operator for J& W Distributing as well as Premium Beverage. She retired in 2005.
Maxine was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mason City, acting as the treasurer for the Grace United Methodist Women. She loved to go fishing just about any chance she could get; especially with her husband John either up at their Lunker Club Cabin in Canada or at their cabin along the Mississippi. Crappie were her favorite to fish for. Maxine also enjoyed flower gardening and spending time outside in the yard. She would often crochet, knit and sew as well. She loved spending time with John as well as their family and friends. In her quiet moments, she’d read murder mysteries. When there was a game on, she wouldn’t hesitate to sit down and watch the Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Hawkeyes, or the Cornhuskers. Working on her computer and following family genealogy filled in the rest of her down time of a life well lived.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John; sister Alveda (Frank) Garey, Donna (Charles) Taylor, and Betty White; brothers, Reynold (Mildred) Krula, Roy (Verla) Krula, and Edwin (Debbie) Krula; sisters-in-law, Joan Krula, Annette Green, and Nancy Bussewitz; special friends, Genny Grube and Anita and Kenny Friest; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Anton and Olga; father and mother-in-law; Wendell and Ruby Green; brothers, Arnold, Longin, and Albin “Beano” Krula; sisters, Mary Ellen (Milo) Vodehnal, Cecelia (Frank) Machacek; brother-in-law, Joe Green; and nephew, Andrew White
