Marvin L. Kasik was born on August 19, 1939 in Richland, Nebraska to Emil and Catherine (Moser) Kasik at the family home.  He grew up on the family farm, participating in every aspect.  He graduated from Schuyler Central High School.  Upon graduation, he joined the US Army and served in South Korea, Japan and Europe for five years.  After his service overseas, he returned to Nebraska and married Joyce Darveaux on November 13, 1964.  They raised four children – Valerie, Tisa, Kurt and Shannon.

They lived and farmed one mile north of Camp Luther, Schuyler, Nebraska.  Marvin was passionate about farming, the land, animals, the outdoors and everything that went with it.  He was a dedicated farmer for 60 plus years and became a prominent figure in the farming community.   He fought the tragic farm crisis of the 80s and thereafter flourished in his love of farming.  In addition to being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he will be remembered as an honest, hard-working man who took great pride in the farming operations and his dealings with others.  He was loyal, dedicated, caring and trustworthy.  His word meant everything to him. He was married to his beloved wife, Joyce Kasik, for 59 years who predeceased him on August 14, 2023. Marvin had a very strong faith in the Catholic religion and was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Schuyler, Nebraska.

He is survived by four children – Valerie Kasik of Columbus, Tisa (Walter) Kasik of Omaha, Kurt (Vonnie) Kasik of Lincoln, Shannon Kasik of Columbus; grandchildren Eric Rogers, Tisa Kasik, Alex Long and Austin Long; siblings Carolyn Brichacek of Leesburg, Virginia, Kenneth and Jane Kasik of Schuyler, Lawrence Kasik of Richland, Gerald Kasik of Spokane, Washington; sister-in-law Maryann Kasik of Columbus and sister-in-law Joan Kasik of Lincoln.
