Julie Flynn, 65, formerly of Schuyler, died October 2, 2025, in Lawrence, Kansas.


A Memorial Mass will be held in Schuyler on November 26th.

Julie Anne Flynn, 65, of Lawrence, Kansas and formerly of Schuyler, Nebraska, passed away October 2, 2025, at her home.

She was born August 1, 1960, in Schuyler, to James H. Flynn Jr, and Marian (Shonka) Flynn. She graduated from Schuyler High School in 1978. Julie was very active in many activities. At 5’7” she was All State Basketball playing left and right-handed, Softball, Track, Volleyball and President of the Band. Julie had a scholarship to play basketball at Midland Lutheran College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science and Coaching Endorsement. She received her Master of Science in Human Services from Bellevue University in 2004.

She resided in Omaha until 2019. Her career included Telecare Corp, Region Six Recovery Center, Developmental Services of Iowa & Eastern NE Community Office of Mental Health.

In 2019, Julie moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where she was a diligent caretaker of her mother Marian. She worked as a Paraeducator for the Lawrence Public Schools at Prairie Park Elementary. She will be missed by her students and coworkers.

She is survived by her sister Kathy Flynn Deines (Jerry) of Omaha, NE, and her brother John Flynn (Lucy) of Lawrence, Kansas. Other survivors include eight nieces and nephews Courtney, Breann, Nealy, James, Jack, Kate, Matthew and Molly and six great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers James H. Flynn III and Patrick J Flynn.

Julie was a faithful Cornhusker Fan. She became a Jayhawk fan in 1987 when her brother John played football at KU. She was a proud Aunt cheering on her nieces and nephews at their different sporting events and activities.

Besides her love and caretaking of her mother, she loved her boxer, Addie.
