Mary Ann Ratkovec, 86, of rural David City was born February 15, 1939 to Marie (Maca) and James Voboril on the farm. She attended country school and graduated from Marietta High School.
On August 10, 1957 she married Marvin Ratkovec. They lived and farmed northeast of David City. Mary Ann worked for Penny's in David City in her earlier years. After Marvin lost his eyesight, she took over the role of operating the farm, while taking care of three boys and caring for the livestock. Mary Ann filled many hats to keep everything going.
Mary Ann had a strong faith in God, making sure everyone would get to Church. She served on many Church positions at Appleton Catholic Church. She also worked and spent many hours at the Appleton Community Hall. There were many events and she always made time to go help at the hall.
Mary Ann and Marvin took many bus trips and enjoyed getting away to see the country side.
She is survived by her children: Roger (Linda) Ratkovec of Wisconsin, Wayne Ratkovec (significant other Terri Morrow), and Dean Ratkovec (significant other Staci Redwing) of David City, grandchildren: Rachael Ratkovec, Ryan (Lori) Ratkovec of Wisconsin, and Justin Ratkovec of Colorado, great-grandchildren: Ryker and Rhett Ratkovec of Wisconsin, special fur friends, Maple and Shelby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, LaDonna and Joe DeWispelare.
