Dan Wolfe, 83, of Fremont (formerly of Schuyler) died Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha.

 


In lieu of flowers, plants and statues, the family requests memorials which will be designated to Parkinson's Disease and Asthma Research

Daniel Andrew Wolfe was born December 14, 1941, in Columbus to Elmer and Grace (Legler) Wolfe.  He attended Schuyler Schools and graduated in 1959.  In June of 1959, he enlisted in the United States Navy.  Following his discharge, he farmed with his father.  He married Patricia Hampl on February 1, 1969, at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler.  They lived in Schuyler where she taught school and he continued farming.  Patricia (Trish) died in 1996.   On June 4, 2003, Dan and Janice Hansen were married near Red Rock Canyon in Nevada.  They lived in Fremont and Dan kept farming and ranching with his children.  He was a huge Husker Fan and loved traveling.  He and Jan spent winters in Arizona and Dan never truly retired from ranching.  He enjoyed attending the grandkids county fairs and events.  His greatest love besides cattle was time with his grandkids.

Dan is survived by his wife, Janice Wolfe of Fremont, daughter Wende (Mike) Settles of North Bend, son Drew (Kristi) Wolfe of Richland, brother Ken (Judy) Wolfe of Longview, Washington, two step-daughters, Jennifer (Aaron) Bush of Gretna and Leah (Eric) Bond of Omaha, nine grandchildren: Mikayla and Jordan Settles, Gunnar, Brielle, and Alyse Wolfe, Payton and Cooper Bush, Archie and Jonas Bond as well as  many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Trish, infant son Travis, parents Elmer and Grace Wolfe, in-laws Pat and Helen Hampl and two brothers, Art and Rollie Wolfe.
