Joan was born February 7, 1941, in Prague, Nebraska to Charles and Agnes (Machovec) Prochaska.  She attended area schools and graduated from Prague High School.  She married Galen Fendrich on November 25, 1961.  They had two children and later divorced.  She spent most of her life in the Abie and Prague area and lived in Michigan for a few years.  Joan had worked at the packing house in Schuyler and was a bookkeeper for the A & W elevator in Abie. She also worked at Eddie's Bar for her brother as well as Club Canton in MI and Czechland Inn in Prague.  Her last job was at the Wahoo Care Center.  In all of these jobs she cultivated many friends as well as being a caregiver for many. Joani was retired but had never retired from her beautiful flower gardens and she never passed up an opportunity to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. (They were the Light of her eyes and heart)
