Vera J. Davenport, 76, formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at david place in David City.

Vera was born December 6, 1947 in David City to Duane and Eva (Barlean) Modlin. She attended schools in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School. Vera married Ron Davenport and two daughters, Dawn and Michelle were born to this union. They lived on the family farm near Octavia for 9 years. Vera then lived in Columbus where she worked at the Platte county courthouse, Russ's Superfoods and Cuzins corner. Vera most recenty worked at Vishay in Columbus, where she retired from. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler where she taught sunday school for many years. She also coached soccer, and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading. She was a huge Husker fan, and Vera's life revolved around her girls Dawn and Michelle.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Dawn Pensick and Friend Chuck Sladek, Michelle (Mark) Kovarik, Grandchildren Joslyn Pensick and friend Luke Wenzel, Walker Pensick, Graham, Maddie and Keaton Kovarik. Sister-in-law Pat Modlin, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerry Modlin.
