Isabelle was born May 2, 1926, in Schuyler, to John and Mary (Bauman) Gerrard.  She grew up on a farm northwest of Schuyler where she enjoyed riding the machinery with her older brothers and riding her ponies. She fondly remembered her Shetland pony Toby and as a small child they would put her on the horse to ride over to visit her cousin's farm.
She attended Fisher School and liked playing softball and baseball.  Isabelle graduated from Schuyler High School.  She received a Teaching Certificate and taught at local country schools for a short time.  Over the years she enjoyed visiting with her old students.  She met Lavern Kracl at a wedding dance and on October 23, 1947, they were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler.

She loved being a wife and mother and said that the sweetest name she was ever called was Grandma. They enjoyed following their kids and grandkids in their activities and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Their shared passion for baseball led them to attend major league baseball games at most of the major league stadiums with the Chicago Cubs being her favorite team.  Together they ran the Last Chance Bar and were famous for their cheeseburgers. They had an amazing life together and were married 68 years when Lavern passed in 2015. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School and was active in the Schuyler Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved living in Schuyler, and they were both active in community affairs. She loved all sports and was an avid bowler and golfer and was able to golf until her late 80's. She was a Husker fan and especially liked following football and women's basketball and volleyball.  She was a very active resident of david place the past few years and enjoyed visits with her family and friends.  They were affectionately known as the “Golden Girls” (thank you for being a friend). Isabelle was active and alert to the very end and enjoyed a good, long life. She said her greatest joy was the love of her family and many friends. She will be missed and remembered by many.

Isabelle is survived by two daughters, Marie (WO) Myrick of Birmingham, Alabama, Janet (Duane) Spale of Grand Island, two sons, Jerry (Rose) Kracl of Schuyler and Don (Joyce) Kracl of Gretna, eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lavern in 2015, a sister, Vera Heavican and three brothers, James, Irvin and Melvin Gerrard.
