Joe was born March 19, 1962, in Schuyler, to Raymond and Edith (Svoboda) Chromy. He attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 1980. On December 26, 2000, he married Charmyn Kment in Columbus. They had two sons and later divorced. Joe worked with computers, was a herdsman at DNA Genetics and studied database design and management. He loved polka music and played the saxaphone for Moostache Joe and the Michael Brecka Band. He is survived by his mother, Edith Chromy of Linwood, two sons, Zachary Chromy of Wayne and Rylan Chromy of Schuyler, sister, Irene Chromy of Omaha, uncle Dr. James (Carolyn) Chromy of Raleigh, North Carolina, nephew Doug (Laura)Brtek, their children Carson, Jace, Decklynand Beckett, all of Florida, nephew Jared Chromy and his mother, Kim Svatora, niece Lisa (Sean) Wiseman and children Elsie amd Maya of Washington, cousins Paul (Deb) Chromy, Jamie (Rick) Miner and Leslie (Jim) Poli, all of North Carolina.
