Douglas F. Kracl, 85, of Santa Cruz, California, died peacefully on May 22, 2021, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Douglas was born September 5, 1935, in Schuyler, to Frank and Eloise (Hooper) Kracl.

He attended Schuyler schools, graduating from Schuyler High School in 1953.  After graduating, he worked in Columbus until joining the United States Air Force, serving in Iceland.  Following his work in the culinary profession, Douglas was a landlord and care giver in the Hayward and Santa Cruz area.  He is remembered for his baked goods, humor and love of sewing as well as being an excellent quilt maker and designer and decorator of egg shells.  In August of 2020, his home and belongings were destroyed in the CZU Lightning Complex fires in the mountains of Santa Cruz where he lived.

Douglas is survived by his adopted grandchildren Sierra and Devon Lambert of California, two sisters, Marilyn Foster, Carson City, Nevada and Elayne ( Ray) Henry of Lincoln, one brother, Richard Kracl of Schuyler, sisters- in-law Isabelle Kracl, Ludi Kracl, Judy Kracl, Rose Ann Kracl, Clarice Nugent, many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Kuwitsky, Betty Kohout, Gladys Eckland and brothers, Lavern, Marlin, Marvin, Verlyn "Buck", John "Jack", David and Darrel.
