Arlyn E. Osten, 85, of Leigh, died Thursday, December 17, 2015, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Arlyn E. Osten was born September 17, 1930, in Creston, Nebraska to Raymond and Marcella(Johnson) Osten. He attended K-8 at St. John's School in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in 1948. He entered the United States Navy in 1949 and served as a Parachute Rigger 2nd Class. He was also a "Blue Noser", having crossed the Artic Circle. On April 7, 1953, he married Nadine Mrstny at St. John's Lutheran in Creston.They lived and farmed west of Leigh and eventually moved to town. Arlyn worked for Leigh and Creston Coops, hauling propane. He had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Creston and currently Zion Lutheran of Leigh, where he served as a Trustee. He also served on the school board.
Arlyn is survived by his wife, Nadine, of Leigh, one daughter, Jacquelyn(Steve) Rezac of Valparaiso, two sons;Stuart(Laure) Osten of Leigh, Mitchell(Michelle) Osten of Wisner, a brother, Lester Osten of Denver, Clara Osten of Carroll, Nebraska, six grandchildren;Erica(Brad) Varn, Omaha, Brad(Leighanne) Osten, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Katherine Osten and her significant other, Greg Schaffer, Laramie, Wyoming, Emilie Osten, Carroll, Nebraska, Anna Osten, Stromsburg and Lena Whitewater of Wisner, three great-grandchildren;Sophia and Isabella Varn and Kayleigh Osten. as well
as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lois Heese and a brother, Norman Osten
