Irene Fiala, 91, of Howells, died Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Clarkson Care Center in Clarkson.

Visitation Friday 5-7 P.M. with 7 P.M. Rosary at Church
Visitation Saturday one hour prior to Mass, at Church

Irene Fiala was born on February 9, 1934, to Ben and Catherine Brester. She attended Sacred Heart Academy, Olean through 8th grade. She worked at Farmers Union Grocery Store and the Owl Café. Irene was a member of the St. John’s Altar Society, Howells American Legion Auxiliary and The Woman’s Club. She was employed by Fiala Chevrolet & Buick and HCCS doing their cleaning.
Irene loved to travel with George and their cabin, Las Vegas, South Padre, Texas and Deadwood, South Dakota. She loved her family, her Howells Bobcats & Howells-Dodge Jaguars, Husker sports, and the Kansas City Royals. She was a lifetime member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and choir.
Irene is survived by children, Pat (Larry) Jakubowski, Howells, Jan (Gary) Miller of Norfolk, Dave (Juli) Fiala, Dan (Beth) Fiala and Bob (Cathy) Fiala all of Howells, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, along with one sister-in-law- Mary and Joe Molacek of Norfolk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, their first born, a stillborn baby boy, daughter, Donna Baumert, her parents, Ben and Catherine Brester, her parents-in-law George and Mildred Fiala, in-laws, Frank and Ellen Fowler, John and Mable Pekarek. She was also preceded by her siblings: Raymond and Marie Brester, Lambert and Jean Brester, Lumier and Doris Brester and Adeline and Neil Verba.
