Gary was born November 23, 1964 in David City to Don and Mary Ann (Kadavy) Svoboda. He attended school in David City and graduated from David City High School. He worked at a manufacturing plant in Columbus for a while after high school. Gary lived on the farm near Bruno where he raised produce and sweet corn. He attended many farmers markets in David City and Lincoln. He also operated a maintainer for the Linwood Township Board. Gary was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, was a former member of the Bruno volunteer fire department and had also served on the Bruno Coop Board.
Gary is survived by his mother Mary Ann Svoboda of David City, step son Chris (Lorah) Baete of David City, step Daughter Danielle (Shane) Baete-Kozisek of David City, Grandchildren Grayson and Kendra Baete, Parker Johns all of David City. Brothers Galen (Mary) Svoboda of Pierce, Greg (Judy) Svoboda of Bruno. Nieces and nephews Joshua (Melissa) Svoboda of Lincoln, Michelle (Brandan) Lubken of Hastings, Dylan Svoboda of Pierce, Dalton Svoboda of Pierce, Craig (Rachelle) Svoboda of Bruno, Mindy (John) Stock of Humphrey, great nieces and nephews Justin, Kennedy, Logan, Hayden, Henley, Sylvie, Jay, Natalie, Makayla and Jake. He is also survived by Special Friend Tammie and best friend Leon. He was preceded in death by his father Don Svoboda and nephew Jason Svoboda.
