Frank Joseph "Frankie" Zelda was born June 29, 1939, in Abie, Nebraska to Frank W. and Mildred (Krepel) Zelda. He attended country school in rural Abie and graduated from David City High School in 1957. It was during his high school years that Frankie met the love of his life, Lonnie Kohout. In July of 1956 he went to work for the Kohout truck farm south of Schuyler, where their lifelong love began. After graduating high school, Frankie attended tax school in Omaha, beginning a career that would become an important part of his life. On June 30, 1962, Frankie was united in marriage to Lonnie at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Rev. C.J. Nacke was the officiant. Following their marriage, they lived for five years in a new mobile home on the Zelda family farm while Frank drove to Columbus, Where he worked for Jeffries Accounting Service. In 1967 they moved to Columbus and in 1983, opened Zelda Tax Service, a business that allowed him to combine his knowledge, dedication and love of working with people. Frankie was the happiest behind his desk, where he enjoyed spending time with his clients and helping them year after year. His clients became much more than customers-they became friends.
Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred Zelda and is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lonnie, and their dear friends, Ben and Pauline Jenkinson and their children whom he lovingly called his "adopted family". Frankie will be remembered for his devotion to Lonnie, his dedication to work and the many friendships he formed throughout his life. His quiet kindness, loyalty and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
