Betty Marushak was born November 10, 1940 at home in Octavia, Nebraska to Frank and Rose (Kovar) Samek. She attended school at St. Mary's in David City and graduated from St. Mary's in 1959. On May 6, 1961 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Marushak at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. They lived in David City for a couple of years then moved to the farm near Bruno. Betty was a homemaker and also had worked in the clerk's office at the Butler County Courthouse and also at KV vet suppy. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie, member of the Altar Society and also had taught CCD for many years. She loved to sew and do needlepoint and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Betty is survived by her husband Bill of Bruno, Children Kirk (Deb) Marushak of Bruno, Rusty (Connie) Marushak of Columbus, Darla (Dennis) Polacek of Abie, Gary Marushak of Lincoln. Grandchildren Brad (Hanna) Marushak, their children Colin, Miles and Grace, Jenny (Mark) Polacek, their children Noah, Levi, Owen and Kade. Tiffany (Sam) Sedlacek, their children Addison and Emmett, Dusty Smith and children Kaydance and Maverik, Mandy (Adam) Topil and their children Hayden and Brecken, Travis (Kristine) Polacek and their children Huxton, Indy and Knoxton. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wilfred (Elaine) Samek, sister Mildred (Bud) Wright.
