James G. Dvorak, 55, of Broken Bow, formerly of Brainard, died December 18, 2025 in Broken Bow.

James Gabriel Dvorak was born June 4, 1970 in Fargo ND, and passed away on December 18, 2025 in Broken Bow, NE at the age of 55 years, 6 months.

After graduating from East Butler High School in Brainard, James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He completed a technical training course in Military Security at Lackland AFB, TX and combat training in Ft. Dix AFB, NJ. He was stationed in Minot AFB, ND for a year; during that year he was on a classified temporary duty assignment. The following year he was stationed at Kwang Ju AFB, South Korea. His next assignment was to Falcon AFB, CO, which was part of the Air Force Space Command. As part of an all volunteer contingent of the Air Command, during Operation Desert Storm, he was deployed to Saudi Arabia, as part of “Team Stealth”. From there he was sent to Dubai, UAE, to provide security during an International Aerospace Exhibition. He completed his tour of duty back at Falcon AFB, CO. He served with distinction and received many military honors and awards.

He graduated from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, where he earned his A.A.S. in Human Services. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity.

He held a variety of jobs throughout his life, including a mental health technician and instructor and a security officer.

James was a bright man with a great sense of humor and an independent spirit. Most importantly, he was a devoted and loving son and brother. He had many artistic talents; loved to read and listen to music, especially Czech Christmas music. Beyond his creative pursuits, he had a heart for the less fortunate, dedicating his time to helping the homeless. His compassion and generosity touched many lives.

James is survived by his mother, Carolyn Dvorak of Brainard; brother Douglas Dvorak, sisters, Susan (Steve) Sisel, Sharon (Ken) Codr and five nieces and nephews: Christina (Trent) Thomas, Ryan (Malynn) Codr, Shane (Heather) Sisel, Brent (Danielle) Codr, Shelby (Kyle) Schomerus and other loving family members, including his  uncle and aunt Ed and Marie Dvorak of Lincoln, 11 great-nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.

James was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Dvorak in September 2024, and grandparents, Gabriel and Amelia Dvorak and Joe R. and Ludmila Rejda.

His vibrant spirit, artistic flair, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him. James’s legacy of creativity and compassion will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
