Fr. Ferdinand Joseph Boehme was born in Washington state in 1960 to Ferdinand and Mary Boehme. He attended first grade at St. John the Evangelist School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grades 2 -9 at Spring Valley, Public Schools, Spring Valley, Minnesota. He was a 1978 graduate of Schuyler Central High School, (Schuyler, NE).
In 1985 he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He worked five years for the Nebraska of Department of Water Resources in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He then attended St. Philip’s Seminary in Toronto, Ontario, and graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary (Emmitsburg, Maryland) with a Masters of Divinity in 1997. On May 24th, of that same year, he was ordained to the Catholic Priesthood by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz in the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Fr. Boehme began his service an assistant for St. Patrick’s and St. Ann’s Catholic Churches (McCook, NE), Sacred Heart (Hayes Center, NE) from 1997-1999. He served as Pastor of St. James’s (Curtis, NE), St. William’s (Wellfleet, NE) and St. Joseph’s (Farnam, NE) Catholic Churches from 1999-2011. He was Pastor of St. Mary’s (Wymore, NE), St. Mary’s (Odell, NE) and St. Joseph’s (Barneston, NE) Catholic Churches (2011 - 2018). His final years of service were as Pastor of St. Joseph’s (Superior, NE) and Sacred Heart (Nelson, NE) Catholic Churches from 2018 -2024.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Boehme. He is survived by his mother, Mary Boehme, sisters Marie Boehme and Marghee (Douglas) Boehme-Paterson, brothers Edward and John (Junko) Boehme, and nephews John Boehme Jr. and Ferdinand Boehme.
Memorials are requested for St. Patrick’s Catholic School (McCook, NE), Catholic Social Services (Lincoln, NE) and Madonna Hospice Services (Lincoln, NE).
