Leonard  "Lenny"  Vidlak, 75, of the Linwood/Abie area died Monday, September 9, 2024, at his home.

Lenny was born May 28, 1949, in Columbus to Leonard and Lorraine(Podany) Vidlak.  He attended grade school in Abie and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1967.  He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on a gunboat during the Viet Nam War.  He received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.   He also recently had received his Quilt of Valor.   Lenny attended Milford Trade School. studying drafting and then worked for Koser Supply in Lincoln.  On June 23, 1973, he married Sue Vanis in Ulysses.  They lived in Lincoln, where he earned a private pilot's license, before moving to the family farm near Abie.  After he quit farming, Lenny worked at the Butler County Healthcare Center, retiring in 2014.  He always loved spending time with his granddaughters and took them for  many rides on his "pride and joy", the jeep he had made.  He spent alot of time in the shop building and welding.  Lenny was a gentle, quiet man and his friends and family will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, son Jason (Erin) Vidlak of Woodstock, Georgia, daughter Jill (Brian) Hill of Omaha, three granddaughters; Alyssa Hill, Piper and Logan Vidlak, two sisters; Lori Janak of David City, Lana (Gene) Birkel of Lincoln and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Len and Lorraine Vidlak and brother-in-law Larry Janak.
