Judy was born November 2, 1936, in Schuyler to Joe and Bridget (Tajchman) Spale.  She attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler High School.  On December 29, 1956, she married Leonard Svoboda at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler.  They moved quite a bit in the early years, as Leonard completed his education and held several teaching positions. Judy had worked for Brandeis and JC Penny among many retailers.  She loved working with the public and had great relationships with her co-workers.  Family and faith were most important in her life.  After her mother died, Judy became the "matriarch" of the family.  Her children and grandchildren always came first.  Judy and her sister married brothers and their families were always very close. When she wasn't caring for her family or working, she loved to dance, especially to polkas.

Judy is survived by her husband, Leonard of Omaha, three daughters; Vicki (Mike) Rinne, Omaha, Connie (Monty) Hergenrader, North Platte, Jacquie (Jeremy) Theilen, Schuyler, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Patricia Svoboda, two brothers, Fred (Pam) Spale, Fremont and Duane (Jan) Spale of Grand Island and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, son Daniel Svoboda, 2 grandsons Cash Coolidge and James Svoboda and six brothers; Don, Gerald, Joe, Kenny, Tom and Terry.
