Arlene Kluck, 91 of Schuyler, died Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler.

Arlene was born December 15, 1924 at Columbus, Nebraska to Filbert and Tillie (Karel) Wacha. She
graduated from Clarkson High School in May of 1942. She graduated from UNL College of Business
in December of 1945. Arlene worked at Mutual of Omaha until July 1948 when she started teaching at
Schuyler High School. On December 27, 1950 she was united in marriage to Thomas L. Kluck at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. They farmed northwest of Schuyler from 1948 to 2008. Arlene
earned her masters degree in business from Wayne State College in August of 1976. She taught for 37
years full time retiring in 1990. She enjoyed substitute teaching for 17 years following her retirement.
She also taught one year in Linwood High School following her maternity leave, serving as principal,
business teacher and volleyball coach. Arlene attended every graduation ceremony at SCHS from 1948
through 2011. She had the opportunity to meet Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Ted Sorenson, Ronald
Reagan, Eric Crouch, Johnny Rodgers, Mike Rozier, Dave Rimington, Bob Devaney, Terry Pettit, and
many other Husker athletes. She attended over 100 Husker football games, 35 volleyball matches and
20 women's basketball games at UNL, always waiting patiently after the games for autographs. Her
passions were faith, family, education and ball games. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish.
Arlene loved baking cookies, brownies, cakes, and fudge, and enjoyed listening to Polka music. Arlene
was also a very active member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by her son Thomas R. Kluck of Rogers, sister-in-law Joan Kluck of Schuyler, nephews
Patrick Kluck of Schuyler, Robert (Jamie) Kluck of Richland, niece Kelli Dierman of Columbus, great
nieces, twins Alaina and Avery, Kaelyn Dierman, and great nephew Jack Dierman.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Filbert and Tillie Wacha, step mother Clara Wacha,
husband Thomas L. May 3, 2015. Brother-in-law Robert C. Kluck, November 2, 2015, and son James
R. Kluck, June 22, 2007.
